I’m here, the intern, in the midst of keyboards clicking and phones ringing that I’m writing this post.
Today proved to be a very busy newsday.
A teen is facing felony charges, the world’s largest passenger airplane has landed in Oshkosh and a British entrepreneur landed his space plane. The newsroom has been slammed with phone calls and running around bringing stories together for the newscasts.
A news station reminds me very much of the stock market. A TV station relies on the news of the day to increase viewership and to help the station make money. The stock market can have bearish or bullish trends which all relate to the news of the day. When something happens… their worlds’ go from slow to crazy almost instantly.
Adapatability is key to being ready for these times. Knowing how and when to make those changes is key to manuevering yourself through those crazy times.
Today wasn’t my day to get some studio time but oh boy do I understand. Going with the flow of things is the easiest way to not be a burden to people. It looks like next week between 7 and 9pm is the best time for studio time. Although things may not work out during the time you wished for… they’ll work out soon enough if you stay calm and relaxed about it. Rapid response and adaptability to news is good but a calm mind is the only thing that will ensure success.
Although it wasn’t the post I was hoping for… I learned more in the process. Take what you can from your experiences… there’s always a positive in there somewhere.
Till next time…. be cool.
